What do you do when you are bored at the airport?
If you are like most people you read a good book or play with your phone.
One man at Oregon's Portland International Airport decided to crank his entertainment up a notch while he waited for his flight and hijacked one of the airport's monitors in order to play his video game. The game was a PlayStation 4, and it was plugged into a monitor that showed a map of the airport, assisting travelers with directions.
"I couldn't believe it. You've got all these monitors there, and he's playing a video game," told CNN Stefan Diez, another passenger who tweeted about the incident. She even reported the passenger seemed to be talking on a headset to other players.
“That is obviously something that we don’t want to have happened,” said Port of Portland spokesperson Kama Simonds, to KXL News “because travelers need the information that we are putting on the screens for them,"
Airport officials approached the traveler, Simonds said, “and very kindly asked this person to unplug and cease using the monitors at the airport.”
His reply surprised them as he asked "very politely" if he could finish playing his game. The answer was no, and the gamer complied, finishing his game.
“Apparently, it was a very polite and cordial interaction,” Simonds said, calling it “a good reminder of what not to do at the airport.” The gamer was not identified, but the game he was playing was described as battle royale game Apex Legends.
What do you think of this funny story? Should the gamer have been allowed to finish his game, or did officials do the right thing?
